Layered Zirconia

Layered Zirconia

Layered Zirconia restorations offer a strong, durable core with a porcelain layer that mimics the natural translucency of teeth. This combination makes it an ideal choice for both anterior and posterior restorations, providing the strength needed for high-stress areas while maintaining an aesthetic, lifelike appearance. The conservative tooth preparation required ensures minimal impact on the natural tooth structure.

Our layered zirconia can be a good option for patients with bruxism due to its exceptional durability having zirconia on the linguals and the occlusals. However, if your patient has a unique bite or heavy excursives, there is a risk of the porcelain shearing off. It is suitable for single crowns, bridges, and more. For optimal results, we recommend adhesive resin cement, though conventional cementation can be used in certain cases. With proper surface treatments, layered zirconia provides long-lasting, natural-looking restorations.

  • Natural Esthetics: The layered structure allows for a more natural appearance, closely mimicking the translucency and color gradients of natural teeth.
  • Exceptional Durability: The zirconia core provides robust durability, making it suitable for anterior or posterior restorations.
  • Versatile Solutions: Appropriate for both single crowns and extensive bridgework, providing versatility in treatment planning.
  • Patient Safety: Zirconia is fully biocompatible, reducing the risk of allergic reactions and ensuring patient safety.
  • Indications: Ideal for crowns and bridges in both aesthetic zones.
  • Patient Selection: Best choice for many patients, but especially those needing or requesting our chairside custom stain & glaze service
  • Exceptional Esthetics: This material masks dark stump shades very well, whether a traditional prep or an implant.
  • Adhesive Bonding: Recommended for optimal retention, especially for non-retentive preparations.
  • Conventional Cementation: Suitable for cases where adhesive bonding is not feasible, ensuring reliable fixation.
  • Application Technique: Proper surface conditioning of the zirconia is essential to enhance bond strength and prevent debonding.
